About Me

My name is Jennifer Van Houten and I am book seller in the Finger Lakes Region of Western New York. I am a 1990 graduate of St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York with a degree in English Writing.

My husband, our 2 children and I live on a farm from where I sell my books on-line.  Our daughter, is in the 6th grade and our son, is in 4th grade this Fall.   Our family also includes 3 dogs and 4 horses.  As a family we enjoy walking in the woods, doing art projects and watching movies.  

We live in the beautiful Bristol Hills area of the Finger Lakes Region of Wester New York State.  We named our farm "White Hills Farm", after we discovered that the 3 hills surrounding the house usually had snow on them from late October into May!  

Up until May of 2000, I was working 60 hour weeks in the field of Finance while trying to care for my young family and help my husband with his Hardwood Flooring business.  Unsatisfied with the hectic pace at which we were conducting our lives, I began to search for a way to be home with my children and still have a career.  Having been an avid reader and passive collector for years,  I found what is hopefully my last career as a book seller.  

I have always loved reading and am still in awe of the power of the written word.  Even today, in a world of video downloads and up-to-the minute news, the impact that reading a book can have on a person's life is amazing.

The books I offer come from a variety of sources: auctions, estates or collector's whose interests have changes.   Most of these are in the Finger Lakes, Rochester and Syracuse  areas, but I will travel anywhere for a good book.
